1/07/2001 First trip of the new Year.
With rumors of big yellows all week Jeff and I decide to headout in search of these big tails, however a last minute call to bites on reveals that the bite had died off. With the latest scoop we decided to fish off La Jolla for the bonita bite that had turned up over the weekend. At around 11am the bonita went off with everyone getting bit about every 10 minutes or so this lasted for about an hour than it shut down and would start up again in about an hour or so. We wnded up boating 4 but lost quite a few to the dogs and shortbites. The kids enjoyed seeing the migrating whales, we had them one surface only 50 yds from the boat.
